Plastic Free Salish Sea
Karin developed Plastic Free Salish Sea in 2018. PFSS is a subcommittee of the MRC that partners with non-profits and leaders of the islands’ waste management services. The vision is to reduce reliance on single use plastics and educate citizens throughout the Salish Sea area on how to reduce and reuse.

Community Engagement Director, Friends of the San Juans
Do you know where your trash goes? And how much energy it takes to get to its final destination? Katie will review the life-cycle of every day products from how their made, to how their used, to where they end up when we throw them in either the landfill or recycling trash.
Training, Education & Outreach Coordinator, Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District
Remaking the future
Nikyta will provide an overview of the past and future of recycling, introduce the Lopez ReMake Lab and the Lopez Island "Year to Zero" Reuse innovations. She will also share ideas of how best practices can be shared island to island and even further afield.
